Sarah Palin - Queen of Controversy

A lot has been said about John McCain's recent vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin.  Before her jump into the spotlight, this unknown Alaskan governor probably never dreamed of the media frenzy she spark. It seems as if everyone has an opinion on this woman, and a very strong one in fact. Love her or hate her, has the "Palin Mania" gone too far?

Some of the leading Palin critics come from Hollywood and have enjoyed plugging their disapproval McCain's choice in any possible situation. Tina Fey's biting impersonation on Saturday Night Live portrayed her as a redneck with a highly distinctive accent and brought in record viewing numbers for the popular satirical show. Film star Matt Damon has a joined the celebrity chorus and calls the pick a "disaster." There are countless online spoofs of Sarah Palin and her family. Just try googling her name and see what comes up.

Check out the SNL skit:

I know that our right to freedom of speech is at the very heart of our democracy, but there is a very possible chance that this lady could be the Vice President of the United States.  If we can't even stand together to at least bear with Sarah Palin, how can we expect the rest of the world to take us seriously?  I say we keep our mouths shut for the moment and speak at the polls this November

I get the point that your trying to make: The populace projects the U.S.'s image. Image isn't everything though.

A crude example of this situation is with my family. My dad was always about our image and no matter what turmoil we had going on we had to maintain our composure as a family in front of others.

Eventually things got so bad it just wasn't even worth it because I didn't care what anyone else thought. I just had to express myself.

At a certain point though I don't want to support someone I just don't believe in at all. I'm not afraid to stand behind an idea even if it is widely opposed. I am also not afraid to criticize something, and I completely feel she deserves some judgement.

She is against teaching sex Ed to kids. Ironically, her daughter is having a child at the age of 17. Coincidence? She wants to take books out of libraries. Seriously?

Don't get me into five planes McCain either. The legend who graduated 5th...........from last and ended up crashing 5 planes. The future looks bleak with them in the white house.

The rest of the world is not taking us seriously as of now, and Palin is just the latest reason. Nowhere in the world is a person with intelligence, like Gore and Obama, viewed with such distrust and disrespect as the United States these days. Is this part of the Ronald Reagan legacy? Reagaon used to refer to smart people as "pointy headed intellectuals." Well, maybe this is not a new attitude, since Mark Twain satirized it in Huck Finn.
